“THIS IS NOT OUR HOME”
v As
Christians, we know that this place, this world, is not our home.
Knowing this should make us gravitate away from this world. However,
that isn’t what we are doing.
v Our main focus should be “God what do you want me to accomplish for you today?”
v Our biggest weapon is the Word of God.
v We are new creatures in a strange land and we need to seek God for what to do and how to do it.
v Life
for us should be different. Unfortunately, little has changed in us
because we are so comfortable and familiar with this place. That is not
supposed to be the life of a Christian.
v I Peter 1:4-5
o New Birth: we are new creatures so we must change our image so we aren’t recognizable.
o Inheritance: we have an inheritance that is being kept safe for us in heaven.
v I Peter 1:13
o Mind ready for action
o Be self-controlled
o Set your hope on Jesus
o Be obedient children
o Do not conform to your old (evil) desires
o Be holy
o Live your life as a stranger in reverent fear (of God)
v We must study God’s word since we are foreigners in a strange land.
v The world has a lot to offer and we have to be very careful. I Peter 2:11-12; 13-17
o You are an alien and stranger in this world.
o Abstain from sinful desires which war against your soul.
o Live so good a life among the sinners, that though they accuse you of going wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God.
