A TIME OF CELEBRATION

As you scurry around trying to finalize your preparations for the upcoming holiday season, we want to remind you to stop and take a moment to remember “Who” it is we should be celebrating. Many people go back and forth debating whether Jesus was born on December 25th or not. Some refuse to celebrate on the 25th because they don’t believe Jesus was born on that day. The real question is not what day Jesus was born but rather, was He born? The answer to that question is a resounding YES! That is what we celebrate; His birth! The occasion of the birth of our Lord and Savior is worthy of celebration. He came from Heaven to earth just for me and you.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.” John 3:16-17

That is why this is such a time of celebration filled with love, peace and joy. Don’t get caught up in the temporal things of this season and instead of mourning what or who you don’t have, take time this year to focus on what is really important, God’s love for us and the birth of our Savior. As believers, we understand that the two most important events for us are the birth of our Lord and the death of our Savior. Without His birth, there would not have been a death and without His death, we would not have a chance of eternity with God.

So this year won’t you start a new tradition? Join our family in spreading the good news of the season that JESUS CHRIST IS BORN. Don’t worry about the gifts you can’t buy or stressing out over the bills your shopping will create, or any of that. Give your loved ones the gift that keeps on giving like our Father did us, give them love and give them Jesus. Besides, our loving Father already gave all of us the best gift ever…Jesus, the Christ!

HE IS MY HELP AND MY HOPE
Psalms 146:5-10

God has promised us again and again that He is our ever present help. As we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, let us remember God's love for us. He loved us so greatly that He sent His Son, God the Son, to save our ill-fated souls. He saved us, He helped us. God helps us so consistently that we don't even recognize it. Psalms 146:7-10 says that He gives food to the hungry, sets prisoners free, gives sight to the blind, lifts up those who are bowed down, watches over the stranger, and supports the fatherless and the widows. These are just microscopic examples of God's constant expression of His help. Not sure how God helps you? Did you make it to work safely? God helped you get there. Did you get a promotion at your job? God helped you get it. Do you have shelter? God helps keep you there. This Christmas season, whether you're distressed, joyous or a mixture of both, remember God's frequent examples of help in your life. On December 25th we will celebrate God's greatest example of help: His Son. I
beseech you to bear in mind the "Reason for the Season" and as a show of gratitude for the help God gives you, help someone else. This time of year provides us with numerous opportunities to be a blessing to others. Though we do not have the capacity to give sight to the blind, perhaps you can give food to the hungry, be a friend to the widow, or a mentor to the fatherless. The world would lead us to believe that our Help is not enough to fix the abundance of wrongs that exists. The world would have us to believe there is no hope. The world would have us to believe that this is as good as it gets. The world would have us to be, in a word...helpless. When you feel helpless, remember that your hope is in the Lord your God and He will never leave you helpless or hopeless.

"Blessed are those whose help is in the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God" Psalms 146:5

This Christmas season and always, let your hope be in God; the One who heals the sick, feeds the hungry, and saves sinners like you and I.

Be Blessed and Be a Blessing!
